Great Type Lost…and Found

A group known as Typoart Friends has created a book documenting the designers and typefaces of East Germany’s state-run type foundry, VEB Typoart.

VEB Typoart operated from the late 1940’s until it was abruptly dissolved in 1989 (after the fall of the Berlin Wall). As a result, many of its typefaces vanished into obscurity or have unresolved copyright issues. Luckily, a group of students from the Bauhaus-University Weimar have dedicated themselves to preserving the foundry’s unique history. Good job Typoart Friends! Learn more here.
